The Sappington House
Built in 1808, the Sappington House is believed to be the oldest brick house in St. Louis County and is a prime example of Federal architecture from the post-Revolutionary period. The house is furnished with period pieces, offering visitors a glimpse into early American life.
Guided group tours are available Wednesday-Friday and the third Saturday of the month by appointment with site manager Sally Cakouros at 314-822-8171. For those unable to tour in person, a 19-minute DVD tour is available for viewing in the Library of Americana and Decorative Arts. Before you leave, stop by the Loft Gift Shop to browse unique home and garden décor. Click to view the library catalog or the rare book list.
