Crestwood Court Redevelopment Project

Project Overview

UrbanStreet Group's proposal calls for a modern mixed-use development that will bring together stores, restaurants, and entertainment options such as a movie theater and concert space, senior residential living, and green space with community gardens. Mixed-used developments provide the opportunity for visitors to eat, work and play all within the same area and eliminate the need to get back in your car. From an economic standpoint, mixed-use projects are more sustainable – if one type of business struggles, others will continue to draw traffic.

Demolition

Demolition of the former Crestwood Plaza Mall began on Friday, May 13, 2016. It marked the start of a long awaited and highly anticipated redevelopment project for the site. This was followed by a more formal "Groundbreaking Ceremony" that occurred on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. The ceremony was hosted by UrbanStreet and held inside the mall by the old Pasta House entrance. Some of the attendees included Eeected state and city officials, members of the media, Crestwood residents who had been involved in the redevelopment project process, and members of Crestwood city staff.

Moving Forward

Crestwood Plaza Mall has been negatively affecting Crestwood's economic growth since 1998 when the mall's downfall was just beginning, while also negatively impacting the businesses that sit along the Watson Corridor. The Crestwood Court Redevelopment Project is expected to spark economic activity and create a domino effect up and down Watson Road. This project is a vital component for the future success of the City of Crestwood.
