About Alderman Zavist
Term: April 2025 to April 2028
Alderman Zavist and his wife, Mindy, moved to Crestwood in 2016. Before being elected to the Board of Aldermen, he served as chair of the city's Board of Zoning Adjustment and was a member of both the Crestwood Plaza TIF Committee and the Economic Development Committee.
Originally from upstate New York, Alderman Zavist grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended Centre College and later graduated from the University of Colorado with degrees in architecture and environmental design. He spent several decades practicing architecture while remaining politically active in Denver, where he served for five years on the Regional Transportation District board.
In 2004, Alderman Zavist relocated to St. Louis, and during the 2009 recession, he took on a temporary career change as a table games dealer at River City Casino. Now semi-retired, he continues to work on various small architectural projects, including ongoing renovations to his mid-century modern home in Ridgewood.
