Lieutenant Kent Meier began his career with the Crestwood Police Department in 1997 after graduating from the St. Charles County Police Academy. After graduation, he served in the department's patrol and detective divisions until being promoted to sergeant in 2008. As a patrol supervisor, he held assignments as the department's patrol division supervisor and lead firearms instructor. He has successfully obtained grant funding multiple times to fulfill the department's needs for specialized equipment.

In 2021, then-Sgt. Meier was transferred from patrol to the detective bureau as a supervisor and became the department's evidence technician.

In 2022, Meier was promoted to commander of support services, where he supervises the department's detective bureau, records, and community liaison/crime analyst. He is also the administrator of all the department's technology-based law enforcement systems, statistical reporting, training coordinator, procurement, and fleet manager.

Meier holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in criminal justice administration from the University of Central Missouri. He also graduated from the Missouri Police Chiefs Charitable Foundation’s Police Command College and successfully completed the School of Police Staff and Command through Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety.

Meier has served the citizens of Crestwood for more than 24 years and has received numerous commendations and awards for his service. In 2007, he received a commendation for his efforts in solving a death involving a good Samaritan. In 2013, he received the Optimist Club Award for Outstanding Service. In 2019, Meier was the recipient of the Frank Arnoldy Award for Excellent Service.
